Medical animal training with the okapis

The medical training enables the animals to have stress-free examinations and treatments should these be necessary. In the video, animal keeper Dennis from the ungulate enclosure and animal training coordinator Regina show how the okapis are prepared for medical examinations.

While mum ANTONIA is already very trusting and has a full check-up, cub FIOTI is hesitant at first. She then comes closer to our animal care team for some tasty greens. The little forest giraffe is to be acclimatised to contact with animal keepers.
