Predators

The Cat Jungle offers a good opportunity to explore that domestic cats and wild big cats hardly differ in many physical characteristics and behaviour. They are all perfectly adapted to a life as predators. But bears are also predators. Is their hunting strategy and way of life similar to that of cats? This will be determined during this guided tour.

The guided tour lasts 90 minutes.

Animal husbandry - what to think about

With your own pets, you have to know their living requirements in order to keep them in an animal-friendly way. What considerations do zoo staff make when keeping animals?
Examples are used to show how an enclosure is designed and what is considered when feeding and keeping the animals occupied.

The tour lasts 90 minutes.

Adaptation of mammals to habitats

Using the habitats of rainforest, desert and water as examples, the connection between physique and way of life is worked out using various animal species.

Guided tour as part of the Biodiversity Ring Programme

Locomotion of animals

Swimming, running, jumping, flying... depending on the habitat, we find different ways of overcoming distances. These are determined by comparing some animal species.

The guided tour lasts 90 minutes.

All birds fly high!?

Using the example of the nandu and the penguin, the loss of the ability to fly is compared with the way of life of birds that are able to fly.

The tour lasts 90 minutes.

Animals of the tropical rainforest

The construction of the hive and the multitude of ecological niches are the reasons for the high biodiversity of this sensitive ecosystem. In a playful way, through independent exploration of the free-flight hall in the bird halls and the South American river course in the exotarium, the experience of the stick construction is made visible and the word "biodiversity" is filled with life.

The guided tour lasts 90 minutes.
